Configure the Hero and Website Images

The Hero and Welcome images create the first visual impression of your church website. BlessChurch allows you to replace the default images with photographs that represent your congregation.

Understand the image areas

• Hero image: The large cover image at the top of the homepage.
• Welcome image: The image displayed beside the Welcome section.
• Event images: Images assigned individually through the Events module.
• Church logo: Managed through Church Settings and displayed in the header and footer.

1. Open the homepage settings

1. Sign in to BlessChurch.
2. Open Website.
3. Open the Home settings.
4. Locate the Hero and Welcome image controls.

2. Select the Hero image

1. Select the option to choose or upload the Hero image.
2. Choose an image from the media library or upload a new one.
3. Confirm the selection.
4. Save the Website settings.

Recommended Hero image

• Use a wide, horizontal photograph.
• Recommended starting size: 1920 × 1080 pixels.
• Keep the main subject away from the extreme edges.
• Use an image with enough dark or uncluttered space for the headline.
• Avoid embedding essential text inside the photograph.

3. Select the Welcome image

1. Locate the Welcome section settings.
2. Select or upload its image.
3. Choose a photograph that complements the Hero instead of repeating it.
4. Save and review the homepage.

Recommended Welcome image

A landscape or slightly square image generally works well. Use a photograph of the congregation, worship, volunteers, families, or the church community.

4. Write a strong Hero headline

Keep the main message short, welcoming, and easy to understand.

Good headlines normally communicate belonging, faith, community, or the church’s mission.

Avoid placing the complete history or mission statement in the Hero.

5. Add supporting text

Use one short sentence beneath the headline. This can be the church’s mission, vision, or a simple invitation.

Keep it readable on a mobile screen.

6. Review the action buttons

The Hero can direct visitors toward important next steps, such as:

• Plan Your Visit
• Watch Online
• View Events
• Learn About the Church

Make sure each enabled button has a valid destination.

7. Optimize images before uploading

• Use JPG or WebP for most photographs.
• Use PNG for graphics that require transparency.
• Use SVG only for trusted vector assets such as the official logo.
• Compress large images before uploading.
• Avoid uploading photographs directly from a camera at their full original size.

8. Check image cropping

Responsive website images are cropped differently depending on the screen. Always inspect the Hero and Welcome sections on:

• A large desktop screen
• A laptop
• A tablet
• A mobile phone

If an important face or subject disappears, choose a photograph with more space around the subject or adjust the original crop.

9. Replace or remove an image

Return to the same Website settings, select a different image or use the remove option, and save the changes.

If the old image remains visible, refresh the page and clear any active website cache.

Accessibility

Do not rely on an image alone to communicate essential information. Important dates, locations, and calls to action should also appear as readable text.

Helpful tip

Authentic photographs of the church community usually build more trust than generic stock images. Obtain appropriate permission before publishing recognizable photographs of people, especially children.
